Davin and I were recently “treated” to a road trip to see tourist sights. This is a treat, you see.
We travel a lot, yes. But not to sightsee.
So when a friend offered if we want to see the Grand Canyon…well, that’s hard to pass up.
Here’s a few shots of that recent road trip.
FIRST ‘UNCHARTED’ STOP: Zion National Park
We never really stopped. We never planned to go either. But somehow the GPS magically routed us to a scenic route. So the shots are actually what I saw from a passenger at the back point of view.
SECOND STOP: Lower Antelope Canyon
Who would’ve thought such beauty would exist under the earth??? Only God can make something so beautiful. Seeing this was just simply mesmerizing, captivating, surreal, and just wowed by God’s creativity.
THIRD STOP: Horseshoe Bend
Just when I thought we saw captivating…. We saw this…
I mean…c’mon. Not for one who’s scared of heights, tho. But isn’t this gorgeous?
The wind was kinda strong so I never ventured to go to the edge to get a crazy adventurous picture. It was a nice hike to and from the parking lot. If you plan to go, just make sure you keep hydrated.
FOURTH STOP: The Grand Slam…. The Grand Canyon!
At this point, I’m utterly speechless. My God is an awesome God.
FIFTH STOP: Hoover Dam
Well, after going to those natural scenic places, Hoover Dam doesn’t compare. Not even close. But I admired it for the sheer manpower it took to build. I’ve seen the Megastructures documentary and Hoover Dam was featured in one of the episodes.
Pretty intense and scary and cool at the same time seeing that massive bridge.
SIXTH STOP: Las Vegas, Nevada
The glitzy glam of Las Vegas doesn’t entice me at all. In fact, when we reached the hotel, we were all so beat up, nobody had the interest to walk around the strip.
However, because we checked in late, our room was given to another customer. As a result, they upgraded us to a suite. This was the view outside our window.
All in all, the trip was really great. But it behooves me that I would ever be content to live on this earth. The beauty that I see here is nothing compared with the glorious things heaven can offer.
I don’t want to be content with taking pictures of God’s creation, posting it on this blog or on Instagram and Facebook and bask in the likes or follows that I get.
For me, it is a reminder that God who created the world can make something so beautiful…despite of sin that marred the earth. And that one day, I will be a recipient of seeing a heavenly place even greater and even more fantabulous than 100 Grand Canyons and Antelope Valleys and Horshoe Bends put together.
I can’t hardly wait for that day.
