Well, two weeks and a half of being in San Francisco was a very interesting experience. Met lots of interesting people, mostly Japanese exchange students who wants to learn English. I think the idea of Meet Up is really cool, and a great way of expanding our horizons.
One thing tho…Everything is expensive! But God provided our food way before we came to stay in the parsonage. The Bible worker who used to live there left a cupboard full of vegan goodies. The landlord even begged us to finish whatever was in the cupboard, much to our delight.
One incident that really challenged us was when the landlord thought of us as leeching on the church’s resources by “overstaying” in the parsonage. Lots of story behind that issue. Nevertheless I thank God for helping my mouth to be tactful, courteous, and always grateful despite of the circumstances. I’ve had my share of spoken words I regret up to this day. And seeing how my husband dealt with the situation with patience really inspired me. Because of his patience and tact, we won her over. And now she is dear good friend of ours. I have lots to learn.
Anyways, we would really like to thank all the people that made our stay in SF area a pleasant one. Indeed, we met a lot of great and interesting people:
- A guy whose door is always open to us whenever we have an appointment in the Bay Area
- A guy who used to be an ex-convict who met Jesus in prison, and now periodically checks on us if we are ready for Jesus to come
- A guy at the side of the road who needed gas and we had the opportunity to help him out
- A homeless girl at the side of the road whom we were able to give some groceries to (we have a care package that’s been in the car for awhile that we reserve for people in need)
- A guy who was ever so optimistic, cheerful and helpful despite of the fact that his wife has cancer and will be operated on in the next two weeks
- A medical student who is also an awesome cellist and gave us a free copy of his CD
- A Japanese business man who works for a company that made Emojis phone accessible
- A very friendly Japanese business man who is a brother of a famous professional baseball player
Well, in a few minutes, we will be on the road again on our way to Texas and who knows what’s in store for us!
